So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. A spiritual warning against unbelief - Hebrews 3:7-11. How would you describe a “hard heart” and what do you believe causes this condition? God did not create man to be doomed to hell and throughout His Word, He warns of the dangers and penalties of sin and invites all to come into an everlasting relationship with Him. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Remember that the Lord does not want any to perish. Now, the author wams: Beware of a hard heart! Remember the first warning in Hebrews 2:1-4: don’t drift down the world’s currents away from the Truth of God’s Word. These are true announcements of real danger from potential perils in the Christian’s life of faith which prevents a full and abundant life as envisioned by the Lord and wamings to those who do not believe. These are not optional suggestions or simple advice. There are several passages in the book of Hebrews delivering stern warnings.
